paging dr. kappes and capt. kappes

Standard

tonight we ventured to another halloween function, and just to mix it up halle decided to dress up as a doctor,

are you ready for me to take your temperature??

carter decided to take a break from serving as leader of the free world, and instead became capt. kappes, a fighter jet pilot master,

here he is, mid-salute, ready to report for duty!

on the farm

Standard

ah how we love fall. or, more accurately, a season resembling fall with 93 degree temperatures. ๐Ÿ™‚ to celebrate “fall” we visited a farm to pick some pumpkins,

decorate pumpkins,

take a tractor ride,

visit and feed the farm animals,

and pet the snakes…say what??!?!?! yes, you read that correctly. it just happened to be “reptile day” at the farm and (surprise, surprise) just look who fancied himself a snake charmer,

i couldn’t wait for him to put that thing down!! then sister decided she wanted to pet the snake too (shudder),

they also petted full grown alligators, turtles, and large lizards. needless to say, after farm day i bathed them both for about four hours and then sanitized their whole bodies. and then bathed them again for good measure. snakes?? alligators??!! shudder…whatever happened to the good old days when farms just had cows, pigs, and horses?? ๐Ÿ™‚

potus

Standard

this halloween season, carter decided he wanted to dress up as…the president of the united states, or in his words “obama, i want to be obama. i want to be the boss of everyone and tell everyone what to do.” ย his grandpapa so generously sent him a suit and a flag pin, and with a little gray hair dye, voila…

he dressed like this for a friend’s halloween party and lo and behold won the prize for best boy costume. he was so thrilled!

halle asked to be a “very princess” (translation: fairy princess) and loves to prance around in her costume with wings and body glitter.

in addition to the costume contest, they each got to go “ghost fishing” and participate in the mummy wrapping contest, which carter did spectacularly…

halle had fun too ๐Ÿ™‚

they are so excited to get to dress up a few more times this halloween season!

tour de tempe

Standard

this past weekend, the family embarked on the “tour de tempe” an annual ย ten mile family bike ride through the city of tempe. carter proudly rode the whole way on his own bike! it seems like we stopped only once for the first eight miles and then about sixteen times during the last two miles. ๐Ÿ™‚

even though he was losing steam at the end, he was so proud and determined to finish on his own. he pedaled extra hard once he could see the end of the ride and had so much fun riding with the crowd.

here’s a shot of carter and i in our tour t-shirts getting ready for the ride to begin… ๐Ÿ™‚
