so long, chicago
thanks for the great memories of summer camps, parks, food, music, museums, and outrageous humidity :),
halle spent the last two weeks art camp at the art institute in chicago – she loved it! evidently there was a pirate theme and she made a pirate hat, flag, map, island, and several sea creatures,
such a great experience for her! Right after her exhibition carter showcased his acting and singing skills at his zoo/art/theater camp’s final performance, “dr zissou and the castaways” – an original performance π
he was a castaway and did so well with his lines! this was his fourth year at this camp and all of same counselors have been there every year! he had a blast!
last night we visited the taste of chicago to see a free concert featuring the band fun (some nights, carry on, we are young (tonight)) π
here are a few pictures from our adventure,
if we can summon the energy, we may try to catch the free robin thicke concert tonight #alreadyexhaustedjustthinkingaboutit π
after five years of coming to chicago, this was the first time we spent the holiday in the city!
chicago did not disappoint,
and it helped that grandpa and cousin nichole came to town. π
beach time!
holy humidity!
and the firework show over lake michigan was spectacular!
happy independence day!!!!
ah, chicago, we’ve missed you. π we’re staying at an awesome hotel this summer in a great part of town (river north). after the heatwave the cooler weather has been nice, though so far all i’ve heard from two small people is “it’s SO cold” and “i’m freezing!!” it was 73 degrees. while most everyone in the city was dressed like this,
my children were dressed like this and asked to wear jackets,
halle told me all day she just “wanted to be hot”. they begged to go a park and halfway there insisted we turn around due to the “cold”. sigh. my children are arizona babies at heart.
despite the “freezing” temperatures, carter started an art camp and made two awesome clay sculptures. and after the failed park visit we headed to see “monsters university” (“let’s do something inside, mommy!”) and both carter and halle enjoyed that!
here’s hoping temperatures warm up soon before my children turn into popsicles!! π
