i have always loved the first day of school and hope to pass that joy to my children!! today we sent a kindergartener into the world,
she was a little scared at first but warmed up quickly,
for my third grader, on the other hand, he was an old pro,
and barely let me take any pictures at the school itself,
here’s hoping the first day of school was a smashing success!!!!!! 🙂
after we left grand junction we headed north to beautiful steamboat springs,
while there we hiked fish creek falls which had amazing views,
one of favorite activities was taking a gondola up to the top of the mountain and hiking around up there,
and speaking of going up mountains, we also took a ski lift up a mountain to go down an alpine slide! 🙂
on our final day we went fishing in the rain – carter and halle were so excited!!
even though the didn’t catch much (just seaweed :)) they loved it, rain and all, and we saw lots of fish jumping around in the water,
for the night of july 4th, we went to a rodeo – a first for carter and halle!
we had such a great time with our friends, the jakels!! 🙂
we survived our first real road trip – hooray!! the car ride back was looooooong but these two made the best of it with a movie marathon and hours of sillinesses,
we are so thankful for the great friends and family we were able to see throughout colorado!!
we made it to grand junction, colorado to visit more friends and enjoy cooler weather!
we went for a really cool hike through a canyon where carter and halle found a rocks, a snake (yikes!), and amazing views,
another highlight of our trip to grand junction was visiting an orchard farm to pick pie cherries,
the orchard even had a cherry pitter and we all got to watch it work it’s magic on our cherries,
and ta-da….a bag full of cherries!
we had so much fun seeing friends and visiting some of jon’s old stomping grounds! grand junction is such a fun place to visit in the summer!
next stop – steamboat springs!!
after a looooong drive through northern arizona
…we made it to durango, co! the temperatures were much cooler and everything was so green!
on the way we stopped at the four corners,
carter and halle were thrilled to see grammy who was visiting durango,
and carter was SUPER excited to play outside in real grass in the middle of the day (oh the little things you take for granted, coloradoans 🙂 )
