it’s finally getting to be fall in az! which means we can carve pumpkins (and hope they last til actual Halloween 🙂
once again we let the young people take the lead on this year’s carving and this was the result,
not too shabby for a 10 and 13 year old! 🙂
carter’s soccer team had another victory which was great! i just noticed that in his pictures he’s frequently off the ground jumping or kicking – always in motion! now I realize it’s soccer and there’s lots of action but even when he’s not near the ball he’s still moving, jumping, and running! 🙂 check out these recent shots,

Halle’s first quarter Summative was all about the history of summatives and how she’s used all of those tools to become the professional 5th grader she is today 😂😂
as usual she was full of expression and life as she guided us through her past summatives,

they have three big games in utah coming up! they’ve been working hard and should be ready! 🙂
carter’s soccer team played their first tournament and did amazing!! they were undefeated in this futsal challenge (and yea for me it was indoors!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾
the team has really bonded and is having a blast playing together!
halle decided to try out for cross county despite never having run much before. we love that she’s trying something new and so far really enjoying it – I think she really likes her new running shoes too 😉

now we get to watch her run at several (gulp!) 7 am meets this fall that are located all over Phoenix (read: nowhere near our house)!! wish us luck on that one! 🙂
after weeks and weeks of waiting…the first day of school is here! we now have an eighth grader and a fifth grader,
Some of us were more excited than others of us… 🙂
but all in all everyone had a great first day and so far the year is off to a fabulous start!!
right after the cruise we headed for colorado to see friends and family! first stop – durango to see the brach’s and my mom’s new house,
next stop: Breckenridge to see great friends! we had soooooo much fun and did so many activities in such a short time including horseback riding, fishing, hiking, river rafting, and playing with snow!!
we can’t wait for our next adventure with the Jakels!
carter and halle loves cruising so much last year we took a Mexican riviera cruise this year,
it was another fun week though the big highlight was snorkeling in both Cabo San Lucas and puerto Vallarta,
can you spot carter and jon?? 🙂
we also had fun exploring a beach and drinking out of a real coconut on one excursion,
we also played lots of trivia, saw a few funny comedians and tried to relax 🙂
earlier this summer halle’s dance team competed in Vegas for eight (!!!!!) long days! she and her team did amazing and had so much fun, apart from having to spend so much time in a less than ideal location. the brief highlights – her trio won 1st place in their division and her solo took 3rd! plus several group dances made the final showcase. the highlights in pictures,
